Special Connections 
Brother IZ was a fervent believer and follower of our lord Jesus Christ. He was highly respected in all the islands and did influence many people to stay away from drugs and crime.
On this day of remembrance we can also remember another event which Israel sings of. This mele (song of a place) is about a village noted for its fine fishing nets which was wiped out by a tsunami. The tale is told from the perspective of a neighboring village which was, by grace, spared from the wave. In horror it was thought the children were washed out to sea, all helpless to come to their aid. Days later the children were found safe having been led into a cave. It is a bittersweet tale as are all such memories. But we shall never forget.
