There’s a storm on the horizon!
Yesterday something momentous happened.Monumental, actually.
Yesterday, a proverbial “Tsar Bomba” was dropped. Remember I said “dropped”, not detonated. Not quite yet.
What is a “Tsar Bomba”?
THE “Tsar Bomba” was “the most powerful nuclear weapon ever created“, and “remains the most powerful human-made explosive ever detonated“. It was dropped from a Soviet Tu-95V “Bear” bomber on October 30,1961 “ over the Sukhoy Nos(“Dry Nose”) cape ofSeverny Island,Novaya Zemlya, 15 km Mityushikha Bay, north ofMatochkin Strait.“ Only one was ever made.
It was a Hydrogen bomb, or “thermonuclear weapon”, that yielded a 50 mega-ton blast. Interestingly, it was only a “proof of concept weapon”, designed and built to prove much larger 100 MT H-bombs could be constructed.
So, just how big is a 50 mega-ton thermonuclear blast?
